Ace Bushy Striptease

Simon is
fab.

Ace Bushy Striptease have a website now. This be it. As you can see it has a picture of us on the left hand side. That's there to hypnotise you so you fall in love with us and buy all our records and extortionate merchandise. Someone said this about us once, I think it was a joke but it's still awesome. "Mediocore Bearsuit rip-off."

The News About Us Like

The 11th of February
We totally went on tour last weekend and Jeremy wrote a diary about it. It was well loads of fun. We'll play some more shows soon.

We are going to go to recording this weekend and hopefully it goes brill.

The 1st of February
Peer pressure wins out in the end and this website gets updated!

We've got some lovely shows coming up soon. You should come to one of them if you are free and feel like it.

Then in the middle of this month (February) we're totally going to go to the studio to record some songs. We have far too many to do but we shall try to get as many recorded as we can possibly do. You can hear them when we're done. Promise!

The 12th of January
Simon is playing a song. It's his new song. It's called something. It's called "Capturing Animal Souls By Taking Photographs At The Zoo." It might be our new international superhit perhap. It has a hook. I am tapping my thighs. My thighs are not blue. Simon is playing me another song. "This is my throat this time," he says, but I'm not sure quite what he means. I nod knowingly. Simon has left me on his computer. Facebook is hunting my moustache. Burn it all down. Simon is playing another song. It is called "My Listening Days Are Over." We had a gig on Thursday and I wrecked my finger on the first floor tom rim fuckup. Simon is crooning. I have a 100% record of bleeding all over Mr Cricket's drum kit. And then moaning to anyone who cares to listen thereafter. In the fog Champion said "di dums" sarcastically and told me to man the fuck up. I hate her. Anyway the gig went well maybe. Simon will write about it soon. Other bands who played with us were wicked. Bas came over later after we did some DIY recording and ate chips and got upset ovr his voice. But he is wrong, for he has a lovely voice. And floppy hair now. ARE YOU BORED YET. Simon said "yeah i'm just listening to all of my songs saying 'yeah they're well good!'" and indeed some of them are quite good. He is holding his phone in my face. It is playing a song. It's quite good. Facebook is hunting my moustache. Burn it all down.

The 26th of November
AHHH! Sorry we haven't written in so long! There has been a lot going on. We have written about loads of new songs and we played a couple more concerts. There is loadz of stuff going to happen very soon so we'll try to keep on top of things here at BushyNet. We've updated a lot of it so it should be pretty much up to date with songs and lyrics and other things.

Arjun left the band a few weeks ago which was a real bummer but we're going to soldier on though. Jeremy is back in a month s time and then we're going to go and record a load of our songs for a few special releases hopefully. I'm sure everything will go to plan because we try really hard and we deserve for it all to go right. Love you well loads xxx

The 7th of October
Hello! WE ARE DEFO PLAYING A CONCERT IN BIRMINGHAM ON HALLOWEEN! You should totally come? We've written some new songs and they're well good, natch. The show is at the Actress & Bishop which is near Subway City and only a little little walk from town centre. It's on Halloween as well and you should dress up if you feel like it maybe. I think we're going to dress up probably. We might learn some scary songs as well if we think it'd be fun and then we'll play them for you. There will be a zine of course and yeah. If you don't feel like coming don't worry though, Little Dipper are playing Bar Academy at the same time and I'd much rather go see them instead of us.

The 30th of September
The internet is back! Hoorah! The website has been updated a bit so you can read things if you wish. I want us to record something soon so if we do I will make sure we put it on the website. Good evening x

The 18th of September
Oh dear, we haven't updated the website in too long. Shoddy! We're looking forward to playing in Manchester next week so much that it's unreal. We will bring zines and smiles as usual so wish us luck. x

The 4th of August
Wow! There was a band practice (the first full one with Jeremy in India) and we did loads! Re-wrote Panda Love Unit, made a new happy song with harmonies coming out of the ears and learnt most of our set with Rachel/a floor tom/laptop. EC came up and hopefully we showed her a good time in Birmingham, she seemed like she wouldn't mind coming back again so I think it worked.

The concerts we've got coming up in Birmingham and Salford look like they're going to be really fun and good now rather than really shoddy and painful.

The 25th of July
We did our last show for 5 months with Jeremy and it was pretty much the most fun thing that has ever happened in any of our lives. Read more about it here, ok?

We met Rachel our drum machine and she is beautiful and we had our first practice and show with Emma our new singer and she is markedly less beautiful.

We have lots of shows on the horizon which is awesome and stuff. ALSO, our friend Marc took a video of us playing 'Michael Kightly Is Pretty Rad' last night and it came out really well we think.

Good evening!xx

The 14th of July
Hey. Do you want to hear something exciting?

We're playing a show at the Yardbird in Birmingham on the 3rd September with Das Wanderlust and Calories! I know! It's at the Flux night which is run by This Is Tomorrow and yeah we're properly excited at the moment. It should be our first ever show with Rachel the drum machine but we have a month to get tight with her so everything should be FINE.

It looks like we may be playing one more show before Jeremy leaves. It will be in Brighton before the end of the month. The odds on you being on this site and from Brighton but not knowing any of us is slim but if you fancy coming along, get in touch and we'll keep you posted with the wheres and whens. It looks set to be our first show with Emma if all goes to plan so yeah exciting!

Bye bye.

The 12th of July
We're slacking man. We played some shows last week and I think we may have sorted ourselves out for a proper singer and she's lovely so fingers crossed all goes well with her. You can read about the shows we played if you wish but yeah. We've written loads of stuff every time we've had a full band practice of late which is a bit gutting seeing as Jeremy is off to India in a couple of weeks. He is lending us his drum machine though so that should be interesting, we are hoping to mix that with some live percussion so it sounds less sterile and we'll see what happens I guess.

If you're going to Truck Festival next weekend, we strongly recommend that you go and see Jeremy's other band We Aeronauts play their lovely music on the Saturday at 6pm on the Pub Rock Stage. They really are maybe the best band in the world.

Have a lovely day. Are you coming to the Autumn Store tonight? You totally should! It's going to be indiepop lovely fun all night long. Bye.

The 2nd of July
OMG! It feels like we haven't chatted in ages! How are you doing? We're not doing too badly ourselves really, had a busy weekend which has left us tired as dogs but happy as possible.

There are some concluding statements from the shows we just played on the shows page. The show at the Woom Gallery on Saturday was actually lovely as everyone there was so fantastic and despite a few transport mishaps, the London Brainlove show on Sunday went pretty well also! Thank you to Mr Cricket and My Brainlove for putting us on and making us feel welcome and not like the bunch of frauds we are.

We have got some more shows coming up it appears. Later today we shall be doing our first Ace Bushy Squirrels performance which is a bit scary, it's in support of Leg!-End X's last ever show. It's fancy dress and at the Soundbar in Birmingham. Hopefully we shall be hitting Brighton this summer at some point for a proper farewell show for Jeremy so fingers crossed about that one!

The 23rd of June
Hello. Are you doing anything this weekend? If yr free and in Birmingham on Saturday you should defo come down to the Woom gallery and watch us play some rock songs for probably the last time in Birmingham for six months. We are playing with Mr Cricket who are the loveliest people in the world. They make kind of a bit wonky/a bit trippy music with guitars and drums. They are better than that description and yeah you can come and see us play as well! We might write a new song in band practice on Friday and if we do and it's awesome, we'll play it for you on the Saturday.

If you don't know where the Woom is (we don't have a chuffing clue either), here is a snazzy map to direct you right. The event starts at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with films and art and EVERYTHING, the music starts a bit more towards evening time but we recommend you get there earlier and have a fun day getting cultured.

If you are more near London then we're playing a concert there on Sunday! OMG WTF! It's at the Amersham Arms in New Cross (no, we don't have a clue either) and it is going to be lovely. We're probably on really early so if you come early we'll play some songs for you.

Oh! We should have different zines for both shows (issues 6 & 7) if I pull my finger out and finish them.

The 18th of June
Tap tap tap. Are you alright? We've about 80% got the singers sorted for the shows coming up in a weekend and a bits time which is a big weight off the mind. Just got to do the zines now, if you fancy lending yr mad pritt sticking skillz then don't hesitate to hollah.

We might be playing a show in Manchester in late September which is scary as it looks like it will be our first 'Ace Bushy Squirrels' concert. We're busy rearranging most of our songs for ukulele and glock as we speak. We might also be doing a late September show around Aston university, support yr scene and all that jazz.

We may as well use this website as a giant advert so if you think our music isn't rubbish and yr a girl singer and you can sing pretty well and are massively enthusiastic then please be our new permenant singer! We need a singer! Please.

The 16th of June (evening time)
We got the rest of the songs back! I don't actually like The Last Walts as song any more and I am going to petition for it to be dropped from the live set. At least we have a recording of it now so we can learn it again I ever like it. I also hate the inflection at the end of the shouty chorus vocals on Panda Love Unit. The songs we're writing are getting more and more contrived as well, just because we can shout doesn't mean we should shout and use that as a basis for all new songs. Bleh.

The 13th of June
Yo! Hows tricks? We played the Bar Academy in Birmingham last night. It was a bit of a mess as we broke the PA and then screamed a bit but never mind I guess. Sunset Cinema Club made excellent guest vocalists and everyone was lovely to us. We're still -£15 as a band so far but one day we might break even.

I guess the ultra mega exciting news is that we have some more shows planned but EVEN MORE exciting than that is that one of our songs (Michael Kightly Is Pretty Rad) is going to feature on a Brainlove Records 'Two Thousand And Ace' compilation cd alongside Bearsuit and Keyboard Choir and Retro Spankees and Pagan Wanderer Lu and yeah! Very exciting non.

The shows we are playing are at the Woom gallery in Birmingham on Saturday the 28th June and at the Brainlove all day thingy in London on Sunday the 29th. You should come along to one of them and we will try not to break anything.

The 10th/11th of June (this was written at about midnight ish)
Hallo! We had a band practice and wrote a new song called '"Arrogance Is My Middle Name", Said Will Davies Arrogantly'. It is a bit long and has some bits with singing and then this part where Jeremy hits the crash symbol every time I play this D in a little bass riff. That probably doesn't make much sense but we have been calling it our Sunny Day Real Estate song to each other before laughing knowingly. The intro has the little drum fill that could and I smile like a sausage everytime it comes in.

That's boring, you probably didn't want to know about it BUT we shall be playing it (most probably) at the Bar Academy show on Thursday. Please come along as it will be ninetiesemotastic. Also it will probably be our last Birmingham show as Ace Bushy Striptease for 6 months-ish and yeh you won't be able to get yr fix or something.

We do have plans for when Jeremy goes away to India, they mostly consist of a Scott Pilgrim concept album and trying our hand at being a cuddlecore collective named Ace Bushy Squirrels.

Have a lovely evening and do come along on Thursday if you can manage it. Thank yous. Bye.

The 9th of June
It has been a really busy weekend and we are all very tired but the main points are as follows:

The end.

The 3rd of June
Blimey, we don't half need a band practice, it's been nearly two weeks since the last one and we're going to be all over the place. Lucky we have one booked for this evening and it probably will happen despite the rain. My fingers are going to explode because of a lack of music playing.

We just got hold of a load of nifty tickets for the concert at Bar Academy a week on Thursday (the 12th) so tell us if you want one as it will get you in a bit cheaper like. We have nearly finished all the zines for the upcoming shows which has been hard work but ultra fun. This Friday and Saturday shall be accompanied by regular zines but if all goes as planned then the Bar Academy show will have a little comic book. Oooooo.

Have a lovely day peoples.

The last day in May (31st)
Hello internet, we trust you are keeping well. Are you going to come to any of our shows? You defo should you know, we promise we'll put on a super rock show for you. We have some new songs we have written and yeah we shall be playing them in blips and schplots over the course of those shows maybe.

The Tropical Hotdog concert (on the 6th) is like the biggest deal in the world EVER for us as we'll be playing with people we admire in front of people whose music taste we have infinate respect for, AND it's in fancy dress. It is so overwhelming and exciting and yeah I hope we don't mess it up! The Astonbury show the next day should be fun but we're really happy were on earlyish in the day so we can escape in the evening and go to the Autumn Store show in town with Little My playing. We should be fine tuned like a classic car before a classic car meeting for the show at Bar Academy on the 12th (THURSDAY) so yeah if you'd like to come along, you should get a ticket from one of us. Chances are if yr on this website you know one of the band members from real life but if you don't, get in touch and we can sort you out with a snazzy ticket.

Bye bye bye.

The 26th of May
Every two days like clockwork or something.

Hey dude, a lovely human called Tom Whyman from the internet wrote about us on the internet. You can read all his talking about Birmingham and us on his internet site Death To Music. The whole website is a really good read if you've got a bit of time to spare, there are some awesome terrific interviews with Johnny Foreigner and Keyboard Choir (woo family connection) and basically if you like us a bit then you will love all the music Tom talks about as it is all the stuff what we rip off most.

THANK YOU TOM! You go straight to the top of our list of cool people to draw pictures of and write about in the album liner notes one day. Have a lovely day.

The 24th of May
Hello, this is just a quick thing to say that if you can't make it to one of our shows but you would like one of the zines we will be throwing at peoples then get in touch and I'm sure we'll find some way of holding one back for you and posting or delivering it.

The 22nd of May
Yo! We went to the studio with Dom for a bit again yesterday and finished all our songs that we did the other week. They just need mixing now and then they'll be fantastic! We got two of them back already, Flying Bayonets and Mervyn & Issac Find A CD so if you feel the burn you could try and find them on the site somewhere (they are on here) or you could be a lazy awful human and just listen to them on the Myspace like.

The 16th of May in 2008
Tropical Hotdog concert, 6th June
Woah! Look at that! It is the first time we've ever seen our name written down properly by someone who isn't us and it's all very exciting.

We wrote like two whole songs in band practice the other day and finished another one so we could play about a hundred songs in a row if we wanted to! Yeah it's impressive, we know. One of the songs is really long (about four minutes) and Jeremy says he likes the end bit where it's like a Sonic Youth song with Kim Gordan doing the talking singing. The other song is more sludgy and makes us feel like we're branching out musically although we are not really. It has a country riff and a part where we stop for a beat like real pros. Have a lovely day!

The 14th of May
Grr I'm well on my boy period (sorry for being vile) at the moment or something because I've been internet shouting and moaning at the rest of the band all day! Sorry band, I love you really, especially you Arjun!

Anyways, cheery news! We have been played on BBC West Midlands radio twice in two days! Hoorah! Exclamation mark! The lovely Daz Hale who supports Wolverhampton Wanderers has made us famous amongst the peoples who listen to football season reviews and we're so so grateful it's unbelievable. Someone called Eric requested us this evening/last night/the second time we were played and yeah that's actually the coolest thing anyone has ever done for us so THANK YOU ERIC PERSON!

Another exciting thing to happen is that Dunc from best night out in Birmingham, The Autumn Store mentioned us briefly on his Autumn Store ultra blog, this is clearly the second coolest thing anyone has ever done for us so THANK YOU DUNC AUTUMN STORE LOVELY PERSON! We are so web 2.0 that I can feel my flickr beating faster by the second. Bye bye internets.

The 6th of May
Good morning. I trust yr keeping well.

Just thought we'd say that we've got a show planned for the 6th June (a Friday), if you fancy it. We are playing the Tropical Hotdog night run by those Sunset Cinema Club types, it's at the Island Bar which is right in Birmingham city centre and so you should defo come as it will be fantastic fun. The evening has a beach party theme so if you come along in yr shorts and surf boardz you can get in for £1, woah!

The 4th May
There was a rock show we played last night and it went really well we think. We surround ourselves with sycophants and suck-ups so every rock show feels like a job well done. I think we might have more shows booked for the near future because of last night so fingers crossed eh.

The 2nd of May
Good day! We went to the recording studio on Wednesday and it was super fun. We recorded seven songs in all but the first one to be finished properly is Michael Kightly Is Pretty Rad which you can download from this site somewhere. It's not hard to find where.

Bye!

The 22nd of April
We lost a singer but hopefully we've found another one.

Meryl left us last week because of musical differences shall we say but we hope she'll still hang out with us (hell we need someone to come to our gigs) and do guest vocals when we make an awesome rad album someday. We were scouting out potential new singers at the uni karaoke night and we think we might have found someone so fingers crossed that all goes well.

We have more concerts booked and we're still going recording at the end of the month so more news on all that once there is something interesting to say.

The 12th of April
Woah! Lots of shit hot news here at Ace Bushy HQ so stay a bit while we update you.

Firstly, we're actually going to play another show. I know! It's going to be on the 3rd May (a Saturday) at the Spotted Dog in Digbeth which is pretty close to Selfridges and Moor Street Station and yeah it'll be free to get in and we promise we'll try to put on a really fab show for you to get yr swerve on to.

Secondly and probably most interestingly, we've just booked time in a recording studio for the end of April with Dom from Sunset Cinema Club which is very very exciting for us as he's recorded stuff that we've actually heard of! Hopefully our songs sound up to scratch... I'm sure they will, we're just going to have a panicky few weeks worrying that we're going to be awful.

I saw a couple (I think they were one anyways) having a proper domestic at the bus stop this evening. It seemed like the girl was having a go at the guy for some pretty petty things really, what I picked up on was that she thought he was being distant to her on purpose because she was flirting with someone else. The guy couldn't really get a word in anywhere and they missed the bus because they were enjoying the argument too much to share it with the last number 67 of the evening.

The 6th day in April
Have you worked out the secret yet? I didn't think so. You are very rubbish.

The second of April
All the pages on the website have something on them now which is pretty good. If you read them all you win a prize.

The 1st of April
We now have a website, it's pretty good because we made it all ourselves. It's pretty awful for the same reason. What is yr favourite page on the website? It must be this one at the moment because it's the only one but in the near future some more may appear. Hopefully.

We don't have any shows coming up which is rubbish. We hope to rectify that soon by playing lots of rock and stuff.
