Ace Bushy Striptease

27th April 2008 - Cancer Research Relay For Life, Aston University, Birmingham

This wasn't technically an Ace Bushy Striptease show seeing as we were billed as Festive Butthole Explosion but it doesn't stop it being any less relevant in the grand Ace Bushy scheme of things. We were asked (pestered within an inch of our life) to play a set at the all day Relay for Life event being run by Aston RAG. Jeremy was away watching Wolves draw at Coventry in the penultimate game of the season, Irini had been with us for an hour trial at this point and so yeah it was left to the rest of us to carry the torch (of oppression) so to speak. Every band has to have awful shambolic bumbling gigs when they're starting out so hopefully this was our one over and done with pretty early. Our replacement drummer (Casio disco beat number two) wouldn't come through the PA system so we had to make do with dancing funny like and trying to make up for it with lots of hard rock. We weren't thinking proper when it came to the "perhaps we should start smoking" bit in Mervyn & Issac Find A CD and what with it being a Cancer Research event and all, we got into a little bit of trouble. Never mind, you learn from yr mistakes and I think we're learned not to take shows offered to us two days beforehand when we will only have half a band.
